Why did I choose my role as an Agilist?

First of all, let me tell you why I’m talking about this. A few days ago, I was talking with a new co-worker about our professional experience, skills, new things to try in the teams and at the end of the conversation he finished with one last question, “Why did you choose the role you have?”. And if you read this my friend, thank you for asking me this!

I thought about this during the whole day, and a lot of things passed through my mind. Did I choose this because I like power? Or maybe, because I like money … but nope, that’s not the reason. Then the reason should be that I’m not that good at coding, so I need to jump to another job. Finally, I think about some generic reasons, like, I want to help teams be more Agile or I’m a deadly enemy of waterfall methodology, but none of these reasons feels right for me.

I was thinking about this in my hammock when I had an eureka moment. I finally found the reason for choosing this role. I chose this role because I don’t like to play exactly by the rules of the game, and from my role, my knowledge is the limit, since I can bring any tool, framework that I know or idea that occurs to me to take the teams and the environment to the next level. And having said this, as my own knowledge is the limit, I seek to learn something new every day. That’s the part that I really love !

Just imagine a job where your own knowledge is the limit, and have daily challenges that motivate you to learn something new every day, that’s my job and that’s why I choose the role I have.

To finish this. Tell me, why did you choose the role you have?
